Central integration hub for the gradual modularisation of online banking.
The hub provides reusable front-end functions, integration tools and documentation through one shared integration point for new microapplications.
The starting point was a monolithic online-banking platform whose front end needed to be modularised gradually. The change had to proceed without a complete redevelopment or interrupting ongoing development. New microapplications therefore had to be introduced alongside the existing monolith.
The project first developed and validated the conceptual foundation for this transition, then implemented the central integration hub as an application. It centralises cross-cutting functions that each microapplication would otherwise need to implement itself and provides a shared integration point for new microapplications.
The project also delivered integration tools and developer documentation for teams across the digital-banking division. They support developer teams in connecting new microapplications to the hub. The completed integration hub is in use across the digital-banking division.
Gradual modularisation through a central integration hub.
The hub forms the shared integration point between the existing monolith and new microapplications. Reusable front-end functions are provided centrally, while tools and documentation support integration by development teams.
